EN: This Season's Last Weekend of Skiing in Meiringen-Hasliberg (Bernese Oberland )

This winter in Switzerland has been mild, with just a limited amount of snow and now, when on top of that, the garden is filling up with spring flowers, it almost feels odd to go skiing. But we wanted to give it one last chance. The weather reports had revealed that we would not get a Saturday with sunshine, but since the situation looked more promising the further west you came, we decided for Hasliberg at Meiringen (canton of Bern).

Here you are high up in the Alps (one of the lifts took us up to an altitude of 2.433 m) and that was good, because only on the upper slopes there was still natural snow. In the lower parts of this ski station there are snow cannons but it did not help much now in March - some of the slopes had mud spots and the snow was wet and heavy almost everywhere.

However, our whole family was determined to make the best of the occasion so we actually got an intense day of skiing. And since Hasliberg has a well-planned network of lifts and slopes - located just one and a half hours by car from Zurich - we will probably come back next year. Well that is if it does not feel even more exciting to discover one of the many other Swiss ski areas where we have not yet been.

Our previous ski trips in Switzerland this year have gone to Arosa, Klewenalp and Flumserberg . Moreover, we have also been in Dienten am Hochkönig in Austria.
