EN: Flumserberg - My Favourite Ski Resort in Switzerland
After my lyrical description of our ski holidays in Austria this year, you might have the impression that we have stopped exploring the Swiss Alps. Nothing could be more wrong. Last weekend, for the first time, we went to Flumserberg (canton: Sankt Gallen) and it was - by far - the best skiing I have experienced here so far.
My positive impressions started already in Tannenboden (at 1.400 m) - exactly such a picturesque alpine village which tourists want to find, since generally it has been spared from large hotel complexes. From there we reached a lift system which might not be especially big, but very comprehensive. This time - with the kids - we stayed in the blue and red slopes, but the black ones – windling down from the highest peak, Leist (2.222 m) – looked very promising from a distance.
And on top of this we have the good location: Flumserberg is just an hour away, by car from Zurich, and would the road conditions not be good, you can always take the commuter train S2, which on weekends in the winter does not stop in Ziegelbrücke but in Unterterzen (425 m), from where there is a cable car. All in all, Flumserberg might well become our favorite ski resort next season.
Now what about the snow? Well, it was more than okay, albeit a bit heavy, but we are in March after all. And in return we enjoyed an absolutely wonderful sunshine.

Our previous ski trips in Switzerland have been to Arosa and Klewenalp.
